PRESIDENT IN ROME TO MEET WITH ADVISORY TEAM & HOLY SEE

  • The President left Qatar today and arrived in Rome, Italy.
  • He met today with Archbishop Paul Gallagher, the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States. They discussed peace and conflict prevention, migration, climate change, the Sustainable Development Goals, and United Nations reforms. They also spoke of the need to protect multilateralism and foster a culture of real dialogue at the United Nations.
  • The President will meet in Rome tomorrow with his Team of External Advisors. Twelve of the sixteen have confirmed their participation.
  • The topics for discussion will be the role of the United Nations system in peace and conflict prevention; the General Assembly and its future; and the role and reform of the Security Council.

 

 

SECURITY CO蘑菇视频CIL REFORM TALKS TO RESUME ON 1 FEBRUARY

  • The Co-Chairs of the Intergovernmental Negotiations (IGN) on Security Council reform have informed Member States that their first meeting this year will be held on 1 and 2 February – and not on 29 and 30 January as had been previously announced.
  • For this first meeting, the Co-Chairs have invited the membership to engage in a frank dialogue to assess the IGN, and to offer feedback and specific proposals on how to move forward.
