The President of the 72nd session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Laj?ák, met today with H.E. Dr. Mohamed Shainee, Minister for Fisheries and Agriculture of Maldives. They discussed issues related to the President’s priorities for the 72nd session and ensuring the fair and equitable representation of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) at the United Nations. The Minister congratulated President Laj?ák on the adoption of the General Assembly resolution on the repositioning of the United Nations development system, in the context of the quadrennial comprehensive policy review of the United Nations’ operational activities for development. President Laj?ák encouraged the Maldives to continue to engage in his upcoming event on financing the Sustainable Development Goals and on priorities of the 72nd session.
