PRESIDENT ESPINOSA CHAIRS 30th?PLENARY MEETING

Ms. María Fernanda Espinosa is presiding over the 30th?plenary meeting on the “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba – Item 43”, this morning. As you recall, yesterday the GA met to consider a draft resolution on this subject. Today, three other Member States took the floor to continue with the meeting. The Foreign Minister of Cuba, H.E. Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, spoke on behalf of his country, as he presented the draft resolution. Mr. Rodríguez Parrilla was followed by Her Excellency, the Ambassador of the United States, Ms. Nikki Haley, who delivered a speech on the amendments proposed to the draft resolution. PGA TO SPEAK TO THE G-77 + CHINA GROUP THIS AFTERNOON

The President of the PGA will speak later today to ambassadors of the G-77 + China at the ECOSOC chamber. Ms. Espinosa looks forward to continuing her work with the Group as well the cooperation to implement the Agenda 2030 on sustainable development and the Seven Priorities of her Presidency: gender equality, migration and refugees, decent work, peoples with disabilities, environmental action, youth, peace and security and the revitalization of the United Nations.

Ms. Espinosa?will also shortly commence with Morning Dialogues with Member States to continue to foster transparency, inclusion and an open dialogue to all.

Ms. Espinosa will also shortly receive this afternoon, in separate meetings, the President of the Security Council for the month of November, H.E. Ambassador Ma Zhaoxu, who will be here to brief you soon, and the President of the Human Rights Council, H.E. Ambassador Vojislav Suc.
