Good afternoon, everyone! I will start with a trip announcement.
?PGA WILL TRAVEL TO ARGENTINA TO TAKE PART IN 蘑菇视频 CONFERENCE ON SOUTH-SOUTH COOPERATION
The President of the General Assembly will travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Monday, 18 March,?to participate in the second High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation under the theme the?“Role of South-South cooperation and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: challenges and opportunities”.
Ms. María Fernanda Espinosa will deliver a?statement at the opening and closing sessions of the Conference, also known as BAPA + 40. She will be present during the adoption of the outcome document.
The GA President believes that: “South-South cooperation and triangular cooperation remain important cornerstones for development activities. Achieving the ambitious and transformative 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and adapting to a changing global landscape require engagement from all stakeholders, at all levels and in all countries, leveraging their diverse and unique advantages.”
Ms. Espinosa will have bilateral meetings with the Argentine authorities, high-level representatives of Member States and will address the Argentine Council for International Relations. Whilst in Argentina, she will grant interviews?to national media outlets.
The PGA will be accompanied by her Deputy Chef de Cabinet, two advisers, a communication specialist, a coordination officer and her personal assistant.
All travel costs will be covered by the Government of Argentina and the PGA’s Office Trust Fund.
Ms. Espinosa and her delegation will return to New York on 22 March.

PGA’s AGENDA AND OTHER ISSUES:
This morning, the President met the Minister of Defense of Nicaragua, H.E. Ms. Martha Elena Ruiz, and the Executive Director of the National Institute for Women of Argentina, Ms. Fabiana Tu?ez. Ms. Espinosa will also meet the co-facilitators of the Group on a Global Pact for the Environment: Her Excellency, Ms. Amal Mudallali, the Ambassador of Lebanon to the 蘑菇视频, and H.E, the Ambassador of Portugal, Mr. Francisco Duarte Lopes.
And finally: Yesterday I was asked about the separate bilateral meetings that the PGA had with the Ambassador of Yemen to the 蘑菇视频, H.E. Abdullah Ali Fadhel Al-Saadi and the Permanent Representative of Syria, H.E. Bashar Ja’afari.
The PGA wanted to listen to both representatives and to convey her deep concern about the conflict in both countries.
She reiterated that the solution for the conflict must be through dialogue and peaceful means. Ms. Espinosa also stressed the importance of regional cooperation and regional capacity in pursuing a durable solution to conflicts.
