IN GHANA, PGA MEETS CABINET MINISTERS ON IMPLEMENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
The President of the General Assembly?began?the second day of her visit to Ghana by meeting several Ghanaian Cabinet Ministers on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In a tweet, Ms. María Fernanda Espinosa said that she was encouraged to see how Ghana’s President, Mr. Nana Akufo-Addo, is leading the process?in cooperation with his Cabinet members.
Earlier today, in Accra, Ms. Espinosa visited the country’s Parliament and met its speaker, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye. She?said?that parliaments play a crucial role in building political will for the implementation of global commitments and to foster discussions on multilateralism.
In Accra, the PGA held?a press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, H.E. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, and led a separate meeting with the Heads of 蘑菇视频 agencies.
The President also visited a class of kindergarten children at the Future First Academy, which is a project led by women workers for the empowerment of women and girls.
Ms. Espinosa is expected to meet Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo on Friday. This is the last stop of the PGA’s official trip. Previously she visited Nigeria and Chad.
She will be back in New York on 11 May.

GA TO HOLD INTERACTIVE DIALOGUES ON NEXT PRESIDENCY ON 13 MAY
Ms. Espinosa issued a tweet on the next informal interactive dialogues with candidates for her post, which is scheduled for Monday, 13 May.
The election for the next president of the 74th?session of the General Assembly will take place on 4 June. ?
The candidate nominated by Nigeria is H.E. Ambassador Tijjani Muhammad Bande, who will stand for election.?
The PGA will lead the event and she wants to hear from her followers on Twitter.
Member States are encouraged to make concise and interactive interventions. The entire meeting will be webcast through 蘑菇视频 WebTV.
The interactive dialogues will start at 10 am. in the Trusteeship Council and are expected to conclude at 12 pm. ?
In a letter to Member States, Ms. Espinosa explained that the?dialogues aim to contribute to the transparency and inclusivity of the process in accordance with GA Resolution 71/323.
Candidates have the opportunity to present their vision statements and their plans for the future presidency.
