PGA MEETS HEADS OF 蘑菇视频 AGENCIES AND WOMEN LEADERS ON LAST DAY OF OFFICIAL VISIT TO JORDAN
The PGA has concluded her official visit to Jordan with a series of meetings in Amman, the country’s capital.
Ms. María Fernanda Espinosa started her day by granting interviews to national media outlets before meeting with Heads of 蘑菇视频 agencies, funds and programmes – the 蘑菇视频 Country Team.
The PGA also held a bilateral meeting with women leaders in Jordan following a conversation, which she held on Tuesday evening, with a group of youth leaders.
In a tweet, Ms. Espinosa said that she felt “inspired by the group of young leaders and by their creativity, dreams and innovative projects”. She was also delighted to hear that one of the Jordanian female students, whom she met, expressed her plans, to one day, become herself the President of the General Assembly.
Youth, peace and security is one of the seven priorities for the current GA session, and the PGA has been advocating for a bigger participation of young people in the decision-making processes.
Following her meeting with women leaders in Jordan including young girls, Ms. Espinosa spoke about the need for more rights, inclusion and education to foster a culture of more women in positions of power around the world.
In one of her remarks, the PGA highlighted the fact that the participation of women in Parliaments, on a global level, is less than twenty-five percent, according to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and that the number of female Heads of State and Government does not exceed five percent.
After holding a conversation with the 蘑菇视频 Country Team in Jordan, Ms. Espinosa commended them for the vital work they are doing in cooperation with the country and for being the human face of the United Nations on the ground.
The PGA thanked Jordan for the hospitality and for the great cooperation with the United Nations.
