The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly (PGA), H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Sauli Niinist?, President of Finland.?
?The PGA thanked President Niinist? for Finland’s commitment to multilateralism ?and strong support for the Office of the President of the General Assembly, including through hosting an annual transition workshop for the incoming President. PGA stressed that the challenge of climate change had no borders, and now was time to take bold steps.?
President Niinist? said climate change was a risk to all countries. Finland was looking at how to prevent black carbon from increasing ice melt in the Arctic. While other countries were key to reducing emission, Finland was playing its part to combat climate change.??
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
