The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mohamed Abdirizak, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation the Federal Republic of Somalia
?Minister Abdirizak expressed Somalia’s support to the Presidency of Hope and the specific priorities identified by President Shahid for the 76th session and underlined the importance of strengthening the role of the General Assembly. ?
?President Shahid underlined the necessity of achieving vaccine equity by the end of 2022, as the first step to build back better from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.?
?Both sides also discussed other relevant topics, such as multilateralism, gender balance, recovery from COVID-19, cooperation in the Indian Ocean and climate change.
?The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.?
