The President of the 76th?session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with the Secretary-General of the?International Organisation of La Francophonie,?H.E.?Mrs.?Louise?Mushikiwabo.
The Secretary-General presented the work of her organisation and the alignment?with the work and activities of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and the General Assembly, and offered to enhance the already well established partnership.?She explained?how?French, the official language of many?Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ member states and language spoken in countries with ?most Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Peace-keeping operations,?is a key component in a multilingual?advanced multilateral system.?
The President?recalled that there is no unity without diversity and that he was?open and willing to increase?interactions between?the respective organisations looking into concrete cases?of cooperation.
The meeting took place in the President¡¯s office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
