The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Luigi Di Maio, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Italy.?
Foreign Minister Di Maio assured the full support of Italy to the President of the General Assembly’s priorities for the 76th session.??
The President underlined his priorities of women’s rights and gender, as well as the vaccination of the world’s population by the end of 2022, in order to overcome the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.??
They both also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, Italy’s G-20 presidency, the COP26 in Glasgow, climate change, youth engagement and the Security Council Reform.
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
