The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met H.E Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh today.?
Foreign Minister Dr. Momen congratulated the President and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s full support to the Presidency of Hope and the five priorities set by the President for the 76th?Session. Both the President and the Foreign Minister stressed the importance of keeping the United Nations Headquarters open for in-person diplomacy and strengthening the role of the General Assembly in addressing pressing global issues.?
The President outlined his priorities for the seventy-sixth session, defined in his vision entitled the “Presidency of Hope”. He further underlined the necessity and urgency of achieving vaccine equity to build back better from the devastating consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Both sides also discussed other relevant issues, such as climate change, south-south cooperation, financing for development, and regional issues.
The meeting took place in the President’s Office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
