The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today, with H.E Ms. Veronika Remi?´Ç±¹¨¢, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Investments, Regional Development & Informatization of the Slovak Republic.
The Deputy Prime Minister spoke about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and underscored the importance of multilateralism in ending the conflict. She highlighted the valuable role of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, in particular the role of the General Assembly in bringing Member States together when the Security Council failed to address the issue.
The Deputy Prime Minister also discussed the importance of the New Urban Agenda, and how Slovakia is allowing its regions and cities to develop their own strategies and investment packages for urbanization.
The President commended the Slovak Republic¡¯s leadership on sustainable urbanization, and for the support to the PGA¡¯s Advisory Committee on sustainable urbanization. He also commended the government of the Slovak Republic for their hard work and humanitarian response under the difficult circumstances in Ukraine.
The meeting took place in the President¡¯s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
