The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Saúl Castelar, Vice Minister of Transportation of El Salvador, on the sidelines of the High-Level Meeting on Improving Global Road Safety.
The President commended the Government of El Salvador for their efforts in implementing the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, and in addressing road safety. He thanked the Vice Minister for chairing the multi-stakeholder panel discussion under the theme “Sustained domestic investments and international financing for capacity building and development assistance in evidence-based road safety interventions”.
The Vice Minister thanked the President for convening the high-level meeting, and his efforts in facilitating the adoption of a political declaration. He reiterated El Salvador’s commitment towards improving road safety and working with other countries to enhance cooperation on the issue.
The meeting took place at the President’s Office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
