The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today H.E. Wee Ka Siong, Minister of Transport of Malaysia, on the sidelines of the High-Level Meeting on Improving Global Road Safety.
The President commended Minister Wee Ka Siong for Malaysia’s support to the work of the United Nations in particular his personal participation in the multi-holder panel discussion under the theme “Incorporating road safety into sustainable development: political will and whole-of-government approach” on 1 July 2022. The President thanked the Minister for the valuable contributions of the Malaysian delegation in the negotiations on the political declaration for this high-level meeting. The President?also praised?Malaysia’s efforts in enhancing road safety and for implementing the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030.
Minister Wee Ka Siong reiterated Malaysia’s firm commitment to road safety as well as to multilateralism and reaffirmed the country’s continued support for the work of the United Nations.
The meeting took place at the President’s Office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
