The President of the 76th?session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met?with the Deputy of the Congress, Mr. Carlos López and the congressmen Mr. Efraín Menendez and Marvin Alvarado?on 14 July 2022.
The President?highlighted the?key role of parliamentarians to translate global agendas into national laws and policies, which is instrumental, for?the implementation of?the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. He also outlined his priorities for the 76th session that includes gender equality.
Representatives of the Congress?briefed?the President on the various legislations approved during the pandemic in support of the economy and the health system.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, Mr. Mario Adolfo?Búcaro?Flores, and the Resident Coordinator of the U.N. in Guatemala, Mr. Jose Miguel Barreto, also attended the meeting.
The meeting took place at the Congress of the Republic, Guatemala City.
