The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid met today with the Chair of the Constitutional Commission and First Deputy Speaker of the Legislature Chamber of the Parliament of Uzbekistan H.E. Mr Akmal Saidov.
The President and the First Deputy Speaker spoke about the importance of national parliaments in translating international agreements into action at the national level. The President was briefed on the initiatives undertaken by Uzbekistan at the United Nations, and at the Human Rights Council. The President congratulated the Government of Uzbekistan for the initiatives, especially those relating to youth.
The President was also briefed on the institutional reform process currently ongoing in Uzbekistan.
The meeting took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
