(24 October) marks the entry into force in 1945 of the . On 31 October 1947, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ General Assembly, by , declared that the Day would be devoted to raising awareness of the goals and achievements of the Organization and gaining support for its work. In 1971, the Assembly recommended that Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Day be observed as a public holiday by all Member States ( (XXVI)).
