African Women in Jazz - Boukanack

蘑菇视频ESCO put the spotlight on extraordinary African women artists from across Africa on International Jazz Day, celebrated every year on 30 April. In 2022, seven musicians from across the continent gathered in Morocco, embodying the power of jazz to connect people and foster cross-cultural exchanges. The resulting performance, titled JazzWomenAfrica, highlights the diversity of sounds within Africa. The concert, realized in partnership with Anya Music, was broadcasted by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and distributed throughout Africa and other regions of the world on 30 April. Excerpts of the concert were also shared during the All-Star Global Concert produced by the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz that same year. The JazzWomenAfrica concert featured performances by artists from five African countries, including Abigail Narkie Teye (percussionist, Ghana), Laura Prince (performer, Togo), Maah Keita (bassist, Senegal), Mariaa Sigaa (composer and performer, Senegal), Mounaissa (percussionist, Mali), Nelida Karr (guitarist, Equatorial Guinea), and Senny Camara (composer and kora player, Senegal).
