The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with?H.E. Ms Reem Al-Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation.
H.E?Ms?Reem Al-Hashimy?expressed?continued?support to the?Office of the?President?of?the General Assembly?and?to working closely on climate issues?which?is?one of the main?themes of the?Presidency?of hope.?H.E?Ms?Reem Al-Hashimy?also briefed the PGA on??the upcoming?World?Expo 2020?hosted in Dubai,?elaborating?that the Expo?is?a?great?opportunity?for?multilateralism.
The PGA underlined the necessity of achieving vaccine equity by the end of 2022, as the first step to build back better from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.?Both?sides also discussed other relevant topics, such as climate change,?renewable?energy,?financing for development, gender equality, youth,?multilateralism?and the President of the General Assembly Youth Fellowship Programme.?
The meeting took place in the President’s office at United Nations Headquarters in New York.?
