As unmanned technologies become cheaper, more capable and widely available, their exploitation by terrorist actors is no longer a future risk, it is a growing reality. From attacks on critical infrastructure to threats against civil aviation and public spaces, the misuse of UAS is reshaping the global security landscape.
The side event “The Growing Threat of Terrorist Use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS): Strengthening International Cooperation and Implementation,” is co-organized by Japan, the Republic of Korea, Portugal, and the United Arab Emirates, and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (蘑菇视频OCT) on the margins of the CT Week at the United Nations 1 July 2026.
The event will convene senior representatives from Member States, United Nations officials, and technical experts to explore tangible solutions. Discussions will spotlight how countries can better align legal, regulatory and operational responses, strengthen early detection and response capacities, and keep pace with rapid technological change.
With a strong emphasis on practical implementation, the event will build on existing frameworks and real-world experience, including insights from 蘑菇视频OCT’s AROS Programme.
