Central Asian experiences on the Prosecution, Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Returnees from Conflict Zones

Event Date(s)
:

The side event on Central Asian Experiences on the Prosecution, Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Returnees from Conflict Zones will highlight national and regional approaches to repatriating, rehabilitating, and reintegrating individuals returned from conflict zones.

Co-organized by the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, and the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, the event will take place on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, on the margins of Counter-Terrorism Week.

Drawing on Central Asia’s practical experience, the event will examine the value of whole-of-government and
whole-of-society approaches involving security and justice institutions, social and health services, educators, psychologists, religious experts, local administrations, communities, and civil society organizations.

The event will provide a platform for Member States and partners to strengthen regional and international cooperation, exchange good practices, and identify remaining policy, operational, and capacity-building needs.

The event is expected to generate practical insights and policy-relevant recommendations on nationally led repatriation operations and post-return assistance.

This event is organized on the margins of the 2026 Counter-Terrorism week (CT Week). For more information visit: www.un.org/counterterrorism/en/2026-counter-terrorism-week
