This CT Week side event will convene representatives from the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic, the European Union, the United Nations and research institutions to examine the evolving threat posed by ISIL (Da’esh) in Syria and highlight national and international efforts to address the threat at the institutional, operational and technical levels.
It will also provide an opportunity to discuss the priorities and needs of the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic related to international support, with a view to informing technical assistance aligned with local realities, national frameworks and identified priorities.
Following years of conflict and instability, the Syrian Arab Republic is entering a new phase grounded in the restoration of State institutions, a national commitment to counter-terrorism and strengthened international cooperation. This commitment was reflected in the Syrian Arab Republic’s accession to the Global Coalition to Defeat Da’esh in November 2025, reinforcing its engagement in coordinated international counter-terrorism efforts. At the same time, the security situation remains fragile, as ISIL (Da’esh) continues to pose a threat.
