Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Office of Counter-Terrorism through its Programme Office for Counter-Terrorism and Training in Africa, located in Rabat, celebrated the graduation ceremony of participants of its 11-week long specialized training curriculum on counter-terrorism investigations. The ceremony was held at Al-Akhawayn University (AUI) in Ifrane, Morocco.
This year, eighteen law enforcement officers from five African countries, (Benin, Ghana, Libya, Mozambique, Niger, and Togo), received an executive diploma issued by Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT and AUI for the successful completion of 420 hours of in-person training, covering the foundational, intermediate, advanced and trainer levels over a period of one calendar year.
The participants were selected based on their professional experience, the relevance of their work in connection to the fight against terrorism, and their commitment to actively contribute to national counterterrorism efforts.
The training aimed to enhance the specialized technical skills of law enforcement officials to conduct counterterrorism investigations while preventing and countering violent extremism. It also provided the participants with an opportunity to build a network of regional cooperation in the field of counterterrorism. Upon completion of all modules, the graduates will transfer their knowledge and ensure sustainability by training other law enforcement officers in their home countries. The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT Programme Office for Counter-Terrorism and Training will continue to provide the participants with mentorship and support in this undertaking.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT¡¯s funding partners: H.E. Michael Cutts, Ambassador of Australia to the Kingdom of Morocco and Mr. Ziyi Zhou, Senior Programme Management Officer from the United Nations Peace, and Development Fund.
