Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Office of Counter-Terrorism (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT) and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic held an event entitled ¡°Strengthening National Capacities for Counter-Terrorism: EU¨CÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ Support and Equipment Handover to the Kyrgyz Republic,¡± on 15 October 2025, at the Forensic Expert Service in Bishkek.

The event took place to highlight the support provided to enhance the counter-terrorism capacities of Kyrgyz Republic through the EU¨CÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵ Global Terrorism Threats Facility (the Facility), a flagship initiative funded by the European Union and implemented by Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT.

The ceremony featured the handover of specialized equipment for two key national institutions:

• The Forensic Expert Service under the Ministry of Justice received advanced digital forensics workstations and tools. The new equipment will enhance national efforts to ensure the lawful and human rights-based use of digital evidence in terrorism-related investigations.
• The Anti-Terrorism Centre under the State Committee for National Security received equipment to operationalize an online platform, developed with the support of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT, to strengthen the protection of vulnerable targets from terrorist attacks.

Following a guided tour of the newly equipped digital forensics laboratory of the Forensics Expert Service, participants discussed with national experts the expertise they have gained through eight months of mentoring and advisory support provided by subject matter experts through the Facility.

The event brought together over 30 national representatives and senior officials, including Mr. Almazbek Zarylbek uulu, First Deputy Minister of Justice; Mr. Talantbek Kozhonov, Chairman of Forensic Expert Service; Mr. Adylbek Kadyraliev, Deputy Director of Anti-Terrorism Centre; Ms. Antje Grawe, United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic; and Mr. Hans Farnhammer, Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation in Bishkek; as well as representatives from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵODC), and the European Union Action against Terrorism and Organised Crime (EU ACT) project.
