Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Office of Counter-Terrorism (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT) Global Fusion Cells Programme, delivered a three-week course in French to 18 national counter-terrorism officials from Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, C?te d¡¯Ivoire, Gabon, Guinea, Mali and Niger. The course was organized in partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT Programme Office and Training Centre in Rabat, with support from the United Nations Peace and Development Trust Fund.
Held from 19 May to 04 June 2025, the ¡°Train the Trainer¡± course aimed to strengthen Member States¡¯ capacities by enhancing existing trainer resources and ensuring long-term sustainability. The course equipped participants with the skills needed to deliver complex, specialized training at the national level¡ªparticularly for staff at national fusion and counter-terrorism centres.

The course equipped participants with the skills needed to deliver complex, specialized training at the national level¡ªparticularly for staff at national fusion and counter-terrorism centres.
Led by expert trainers from the United Nations Police Division (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPOL) and the Kingdom of Morocco, the course was comprised of three modules:
- Module 1: Capacity-Building and Development: Through case studies and fictional scenarios, participants developed techniques to strengthen the operational capacity of national counter-terrorism and fusion centres. These include analysis, staff and centre capability assessments, and stakeholder mapping
- Module 2: Mentoring, Monitoring and Advising: This module focused on enhancing trainers' ability to communicate across cultures, motivate learners, manage resistance, and apply negotiation skills effectively.
- Module 3: Instructor Development Skills: Participants gained foundational instructor competencies such as lesson planning and design, the use of learning aids, effective presentation, classroom management, communication strategies, team-building, and conflict resolution techniques.
Throughout the course, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPOL trainers provided continuous assessment and mentorship, enriching the learning experience and guiding participants toward mastery. Upon successful completion of the course assessment, the participants received formal recognition as Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPOL-certified trainers. This milestone marks an important step toward achieving the programme¡¯s long-term sustainability goal.
The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT Global Fusion Cells Programme is designed to strengthen the skills and capacity of security officials¡ªparticularly analysts¡ªby offering practical tools and expert training to help counter terrorism effectively. It plays a key role in reinforcing law enforcement and security institutions across Africa.
