Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Office of Counter-Terrorism (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT), in collaboration with the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, INTERPOL, and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), held a national workshop in Tashkent to strengthen public-private partnerships to address the use of new technologies for terrorist purposes.

Convening 20 representatives from Uzbekistan¡¯s law enforcement and other government institutions, as well as the private sector, the workshop provided a platform for exchanging national experiences and building trusted channels of communication. Participants explored how technological expertise, responsible innovation, and timely information-sharing could enhance terrorism prevention and response. The discussions drew on the practical guidance provided in the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT handbook on establishing public-private partnerships to counter the use of new technologies for terrorist purposes.

During a scenario-based tabletop exercise, participants tested existing coordination arrangements, examined institutional roles, and developed practical recommendations for addressing terrorist activity across digital platforms while safeguarding human rights.

The workshop was delivered under the CT TECH+ initiative, a joint Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT-INTERPOL initiative implemented through Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT¡¯s Global Counter-Terrorism Programme on Cybersecurity and New Technologies. Funded by the European Union, CT TECH+ aims to improve Member States¡¯ response to the increased misuse of new technologies for terrorist purposes, while protecting human rights and in a gender-responsive manner.
