Regional cooperation offers opportunities to address common concerns, including counter-terrorist financing, improving border security, fostering dialogue with religious institutions and leaders, and countering human trafficking and drug smuggling, said the Secretary-General,?briefing?a Security Council meeting on building regional partnership in Afghanistan and Central Asia.

17 January 2018 - In August and October 2016, two strong earthquakes struck Central Italy, causing 299 deaths and 388 wounded. Several houses, public buildings and cultural sites in the region of Le Marche were severally damaged by the violent quakes. On 6 November 2017, a second symposium on The Sea and Science was held at the United Nations Academic Impact (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵAI) member institution University of S?o Paulo (Brazil). The symposium, which was organized by CEDMAR (Centro de Estudos em Direito do Mar)¡ªa Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵAI ASPIRE (Action by Students to Promote Innovation and Reform through Education) chapter¡ªtook an interdisciplinary approach to the Law of the Sea, as it brought together scholars and researchers from various scientific fields as well as engineers, oceanographers and lawyers. 22 December 2017 ¨C The total number of suspected cholera cases in Yemen has crossed one million, the United Nations World Health Organization () reported today, urging greater efforts to tackle the outbreak and deal with the deteriorating health situation in the war-torn nation.
The epidemic is not yet over and more concerted efforts need to be deployed to ensure that it is controlled in the immediate term and prevented from reoccurring in the near future, WHO spokesperson Tarik Ja?arevic told a press briefing in Geneva.
