ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

The Office of Administration of Justice (OAJ) comprises:

The Executive Director of the OAJ is responsible for the management and administration of the OAJ, and for ensuring efficiency, transparency and accountability in the work of the Office. The OAJ provides substantive, technical and administrative support to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Dispute Tribunal and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Appeals Tribunal through their registries. OAJ also assist staff members and their representatives in pursuing claims and appeals through the Office of Staff Legal Assistance and provides assistance, as appropriate, to the Internal Justice Council.

The Principal Registrar, without prejudice to the authority of the judges in judicial matters, is accountable to the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Registries of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµDT and the Registry of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµAT.

 

REGISTRY OF THE Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµITED NATIONS DISPUTE TRIBÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµAL (Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµDT)

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµDT has three Registries, located in Geneva, Nairobi and New York respectively. Each Registry is headed by a Registrar who is accountable to the Principal Registrar. Under the authority of the Principal Registrar, without prejudice to the authority of the judges of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµDT in relation to judicial matters, each Registrar is responsible for the management and proper functioning of the Registry in the relevant duty station.

REGISTRY OF THE Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµITED NATIONS APPEALS TRIBÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµAL (Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµAT)

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµAT has a Registry located in New York. The Registry of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµAT is headed by a Registrar who is accountable to the Principal Registrar. Under the authority of the Principal Registrar, without prejudice to the authority of the judges of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµAT in relation to judicial matters, the Registrar of the Tribunal is responsible for the management and proper functioning of the Registry of the Tribunal.

OFFICE OF STAFF LEGAL ASSISTANCE (OSLA)

OSLA is headed by a Chief who, without prejudice to his or her responsibility to provide legal assistance to staff members in an independent and impartial manner, is accountable to the Executive Director. Under the authority of the Executive Director, the Chief is responsible for the management and proper functioning of the programme of legal assistance to staff members in the internal justice system, including in administrative, disciplinary and appellate proceedings before the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµDT and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµAT.
